The African Union Commission’s Department for Economic Development, Tourism, Trade, Industry, and Minerals (ETTIM) is pleased to announce the African Union Conference on Debt, under the theme: “Africa’s Public Debt Management Agenda: Restoring and Safeguarding Debt Sustainability.”
Key Objectives:
  • Develop an African Common Position on Debt to guide Member States in debt management and engagement with creditors.
  • Provide a platform for AU Member States to share experiences and strategies for addressing debt challenges.
  • Mobilize support for bridging Africa’s 1.3–1.6 trillion financing gap to achieve Agenda 2063 and SDGs

 

This three-day conference will bring together AU Member States, policymakers, financial experts, and stakeholders to address Africa’s escalating debt crisis and develop a comprehensive African Common Position on Debt. It is also  expected to bring together representatives from the Ministries of Finance, African Central Banks, Regional Economic Communities, African Multilateral Financial Institutions, and Civil Society Organizations.
