The AU Year of Education in 2024 represents an important milestone for the African Union and its partners to mobilize Governments, development entities, young people and civil society to rethink the models and modalities of relevant learning opportunities and skills development needed for Africa in the 21st century.

In 2023 the African Union Commission (AUC) and UNICEF launched a Thought Leadership webinar series on Transforming Education in Africa (TEiA): “TEiA Online: The Voices of Leaders” to kick-off the AU Year of Education. The first webinar was held on December 14, 2023.

The second webinar of the series will be held on Thursday, June 6th, 2024, from 14:00-15:30, East Africa Time (EAT) /12:00-13:30, West Africa Time (WAT) / 07:00 – 08:30 New York Time.

The theme of this upcoming webinar will be on Second Chance Education, focusing on approaches and solutions towards the continuity of learning and relevant, flexible, multiple learning pathways/options to learners. It promises to be a very engaging discussion with a rich variety of panelists who will help us explore the topic of second chance education.

We look forward to your presence at this webinar! We invite you to register in advance at: https://shorturl.at/ozGCd

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with information about saving the meeting invite/link in your calendar.

The “TEiA Online” webinar series is based on the premise that transforming education in Africa requires innovative solutions. The webinars will bring together thought leaders and experts for dynamic discussions around a few big ideas on education in Africa. What revolutionary and innovative solutions are feasible for the African context? What are the big ideas? What are the pathways?

The webinars aim to engage thought leaders from diverse sectors, including policy makers, youth voices, experts, representatives from the private sectors and civil society organizations. The objective of the webinar series is to gain knowledge and foresight on groundbreaking solutions on education in the African context, including on radical shifts and innovative solutions.

We hope you can join us for this exciting discussion on second chance education in Africa – as we rethink the models and modalities of education and skills development, for an Africa that is fit for the 21st century!
