Invitation to the Media Closing Ceremony of the 13th African Games”

The Information and Communication Directorate (ICD) of the African Union Commission wishes to invite the media representatives for the official closing ceremony of the 13th African Games in the Afternoon.

The 13th African Games, hosted by the Government of the Republic of Ghana, are coming to an end after a lot of exciting, dramatic, inspiring, memorable and world class competitions  from 8th to 23rd March , 2024, in Accra the Republic of Ghana.

The closing ceremony of the 13th edition of the African Games will be graced by H.E. Nana Akufo Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana; H.E. Amb. Minata SAMATE CESSOUMA, Commissioner for Health, Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development (HHS) at the African Union Commission, ministers, representatives of international organization, youth and the media,  among others.   

With 29 diverse sporting disciplines, including 8 qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris (scheduled from July 26th to August 11th), over 4,000 exceptional African athletes participated in this thrilling competition.

In collaboration with the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), the Information and Communication Directorate (ICD) of the African Union Commission facilitated the live broadcast and livestream coverage of the entire competition to the public television broadcasters across all African Union (AU) member states and the media representatives across the globe. 

Thus, this highly exciting, competitive and inspiring competition of the 13th Edition of the African Games closing ceremony will be livestreamed on the AU digital platform: https://m.youtube.com/live/INxxIMPbHXI?feature=share. It will also be broadcasted live on the GBC.

The 13th African Games under the theme “Experience the African Dream”, will mark its official closing ceremony scheduled for Saturday 23rd March 2024 16H45 – 20H10 (GMT+0).
