Agenda 2063 is the blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into the global powerhouse of the future. It is the strategic framework for delivering on Africa’s goal for inclusive and sustainable development and is a concrete manifestation of the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.
H.E. Mr. Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda, was appointed to lead the AU institutional reforms process. He appointed a pan-African committee of experts to review and submit proposals for a system of governance for the AU that would ensure the organisation was better placed to address the challenges facing the continent with the aim of implementing programmes that have the highest impact on Africa’s growth and development so as to deliver on the vision of Agenda 2063.

Online Accreditation for Journalists is Now Available
The Directorate of Information and Communication (DIC) of the African Union announces that the online accreditation process for the coverage of the 28th African Union (AU) Summit, scheduled for 22 to 31 January 2017 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia has been launched on the AU website: www.au.int
Journalists interested in covering the upcoming AU Summit should register through the following link: http://au.int/en/summit/28/accreditation

Meanwhile representatives of the media are kindly informed that the 28th African Union Summit is scheduled to take place as follows:
* 22nd - 24th of January 2017: The thirty third (33rd) ordinary session of the Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC)
* 25th- 27th of January 2017: The thirtieth (30th) ordinary session of the Executive Council
* 30th-31st of January 2017: The twenty- eighth (28th) ordinary session of the Assembly of the Heads of State and Governments of the African Union.
The theme of the Summit is: “Harnessing Demographic Dividend through investments in the Youth”
Journalists are invited to cover all the public sessions opened to the media. A detailed programme of the public events will be made available as soon as possible.
