WHAT: Africa Ministerial Pre-Consultative Meeting on the Commission on the Status of Women Sixty-Two (CSW 62)

WHEN: Friday, 23 February 2018 – 4:00PM

- Specialised Technical Committee (STC) Bureau Members.

WHY: The objective of the press conference is to discuss the Africa common position on the 2018 CSW62 theme 'Challenges and Opportunities in Achieving Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Rural Women & Girls.' This common position is to be presented by African delegates at the global summit as Africa’s contribution to positively influence and shape the #CSW62 negotiations, which is in line with Agenda 2063, aspiration 7 ‘Africa as a strong, united, resilient and influential global player and partner’. The global conference of the Commission on the Status of Women Sixty-Two (CSW62) will take place at the UN HQ in New York from 12- 23 March 2018.
