Media Announcement for the coverage of the 34th AU Summit: Online registration for journalists now open

The Directorate of Information and Communication (DIC) of the African Union Commission (AUC) hereby announces that, the online registration for journalists interested to cover the thirty eighth (38th ) Ordinary Session of the Executive Council and the 34th African Union (AU) Summit scheduled to take place from 3-7 February 2021, has been launched on the AU website: www.au.int

Journalists are therefore invited to register through the following link: https://au.int/en/summit/accreditation

Note that, a dedicated meeting link for the media will be shared to all registered journalists to enable them follow the official opening and closing ceremony of the virtual meetings.

A media advisory note explaining all the detailed arrangements for media coverage of the 34th AU Summit will be posted subsequently on the AU Summit web page.

Meanwhile representatives of the media are kindly informed that the 34th African Union Summit is scheduled to take place as follows:

20 - 21 January 2021: Forty-first (41st) Ordinary Session of the Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC)
3 – 4 February 2021: Thirty-Eighth (38th) Ordinary Session of the Executive Council, (Ministerial). (Video Conference).

6 - 7 February 2021: Thirty-Forth (34th) Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the Heads of State and Government of the African Union.

The theme of the Summit is “Arts, Culture and Heritage: Levers for Building the Africa We Want”.

In case of any physical session, accredited journalists will be provided access to cover the public sessions open to the media.

A detail program of the summit as well as the statutory meetings during the 34th AU Summit will be made available subsequently. Journalist wishing to interview the AU leadership should forward their inquiries to the following contacts:
