The African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) has concluded a revitalisation mission commonly known as a sensitisation mission to Seychelles, where a series of engagements with authorities of the Republic of Seychelles were convened from the 7^th to 11^th August 2023. Hosted by the Government of the Republic of Seychelles, the APRM Secretariat led by Prof. Eddy Maloka sought to revive the APRM Process in the country which acceded to the APRM in 2020 becoming the 40^th  African Union member states to commit to the voluntary peer review mechanism. Through the engagements, APRM extended support to the establishment of the APRM national structures and set Seychelles’ APRM process in motion.

APRM and the Government co-hosted a revitalization and experience-sharing workshop aimed at empowering countries facing challenges in implementing their national governance review process since their accession to the APRM mechanism. Fourteen countries have accepted APRM's support to revive their national review processes, including Angola, Botswana, Burundi, Cameroun, Congo, Comoros, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Gabon, The Gambia, Mali, Mauritania, Tanzania, Togo, Zimbabwe, and Seychelles.

The workshop offered a platform for experience sharing and peer learning for countries such as Chad, Cote d'Ivoire, Kenya, and Namibia who shared insights on their achievements and lessons learned in strengthening governance. The countries looked into best practices to rejuvenate national structures and peer review processes paving way for stronger governance and sustainable development.

By fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing, the workshop focused on:

• Strengthening the commitment of participating countries to the APRM process.
• Enhancing understanding of the APRM process, its methodologies, and implementation strategies.
• Deepening collaboration between the Continental Secretariat and the represented countries.
• Developing innovative approaches and a roadmap to address challenges and obstacles faced by APRM participating states.
• The African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) is an autonomous entity of the African Union that aims to foster good governance, political stability, and economic growth across the African continent. Through voluntary assessments, peer learning, and mutual accountability, the APRM empowers participating countries to address governance challenges and promote sustainable development.
