BACKGROUND

Reference made to the twenty-sixth ordinary session of the Assembly of African Union Heads of State and Government (AU-AHSG) that was held on 30th January 2016 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia adopted Statue establishing African Minerals Development Centre (AMDC) as a semi-autonomous Specialized Agency of the African Union, under the Decision No. Assembly/AU/Dec.589 (XXVI). The AU Assembly Heads of State in its July 2018 summit in Nouakchott, Mauritania under Decision No. Assembly/AU/Dec.697 (XXXI) further decided the AMDC shall be hosted by the Republic of Guinea.

As a result, the African Union Commission (Department of Economic Development, Trade, Industry and Mining) is organizing a Signing Ceremony for the Host Agreement between the African Union and the Republic of Guinea. The African Union will be represented by H.E. Albert Muchanga, Commissioner for Economic Development, Trade, Industry, and Mining (ETIM) and the Government of Guinea by H.E. Gaoussou Toure, Ambassador of the Republic of Guinea to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union.

WHO: Participants (physical and virtual) will include AUC member States represented by the Permanent representatives to the Africa Union, Regional Economic Communities (RECs), Developmental Partners, Private Sectors, Academia, and Civil Society Organizations. 

Media personnel are invited to cover the official singing ceremony from 11:00 a.m. - 13:00 p.m.
