What: The Embassy of Kazakhstan will hold a commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the closure of the Semipalatinsk nuclear testing site which also marks the International Day Against Nuclear Tests.The event will include film screening and photo exhibition.

When: 06 September, 2016 from 11:30 – 12:30pm

Where: African Union Headquarters, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Lobby areas of the Nelson Mandela Conference Hall

Who: Members of the AU; Diplomatic missions accredited to the African Union; Experts among others.

Why: To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the closure of Semipalatinsk nuclear test site, which also marks the International Day Against Nuclear Tests. The event will celebrate the denuclearization of Kazakhstan and the efforts undertaken by its government and people to achieve this aim. The event will also contribute to raising awareness on the adverse consequences of nuclear testing and nuclear weapons more broadly.
