Migration Animation Video – Intro

The Labour, Employment and Migration (LEM) Division under the Department of Health, Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development of the African Union Commission (AUC) has produced a very short and comprehensive animated video on Migration and Mobility encompassing the objectives and purpose of the Migration Policy Framework for Africa (MPFA) and its Plan of Action. This animated video projects to the continent and beyond detailed overview on the opportunities and developmental benefits that migration presents to humanity as well as mitigating its negative impacts in the continent. The video admonishes member states and the eight AU recognized Regional Economic Communities (RECs) to ensure migrants safety, upholding of fair and understandable systems to ensure the protection of migrants. In the video, AUC pursues the mantra that migration is not a problem to solve but a key developmental opportunity to harness. Migration contributes to the regional integration and development to build the Africa We want as it takes several shapes and forms.

The short video identifies the increasing number of migrants; men and women, on a regular basis within Africa as well as how beneficial migrants are to countries of origin and countries of destination. The AU policy frameworks, protocol and conventions enforcing migration are clearly spelt out in the efforts of urging stakeholders to work together in making migration in Africa – free, dignified and Safe.
