Agenda 2063 is the blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into the global powerhouse of the future. It is the strategic framework for delivering on Africa’s goal for inclusive and sustainable development and is a concrete manifestation of the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.
H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

The award is also in appreciation of the African Union Mission’s efforts to work and coordinate with the African Ambassadors, on important issues addressed at national levels during and after the Covid-19 Pandemic. Amb. Suka-Mafudze is recognized for her active participation in the organization of important high-level events in Washington DC, including the US-Africa Leaders’ Summits, the “Africa Communities Together 10th Anniversary Gala”, and coordinate the monthly meetings of the African Ambassadors in Washington DC.etc.
The award ceremony took place on 20th November 2024, in Washington DC, during a business and cultural networking event that brought together representatives from US Government, international companies, diplomatic officials, dignitaries and invited guests.
The AU Representative to the USA welcomed the award, and thanked “Uplifting Africa Program” organisers, for appreciating through her, the African Union’s contribution in promoting collaboration between the African continent and the USA. She commended the Program organizers for launching research initiatives and promoting positive awareness about Africa in the USA. Amb. Mafudze also expressed gratitude for the cooperation of the African Diplomatic corps and the AU Mission in Washington DC. She encouraged the team, urging them to redouble their efforts to promote stronger USA- Africa relations and engagement.
Other distinctions awarded during the ceremony include the Star of the Africa Diaspora Award, Star of the American Foreign Policy Award, and Star of Culture Award.
