Discussing the strategic plan and statutes of the African Scientific Research and Innovation Council (ASRIC), Dr. Hamdy raised some challenges such as budget allocation and human resource management.

The current programmes, tasks and activities of the STRC were also presented.

Taking the floor, the Commissioner emphasized the need to carry out an objective evaluation of results, if necessary through an independent evaluation, in order to remain focused on the structure's missions. He also emphasised the need to adopt a systemic approach, in particular by seeking synergistic links with the Pan-African University in order to become a back up and service provider structure to the PAU.

The Commissioner concluded by urging the STRC to continue to work in collaboration with other African Union institutions, such as CDC-Africa in relation to health research, or PAULESI, given their geographical proximity.
