Agenda 2063 is the blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into the global powerhouse of the future. It is the strategic framework for delivering on Africa’s goal for inclusive and sustainable development and is a concrete manifestation of the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.
H.E. Mr. Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda, was appointed to lead the AU institutional reforms process. He appointed a pan-African committee of experts to review and submit proposals for a system of governance for the AU that would ensure the organisation was better placed to address the challenges facing the continent with the aim of implementing programmes that have the highest impact on Africa’s growth and development so as to deliver on the vision of Agenda 2063.

AU Commissioner for Political Affairs, Samate Cessouma Meets With the Chairperson of the Affrican Union Advisory Board on Corruption
Addis Ababa, 25 January, 2018: The Commissioner for Political Affairs of the African Union Commission (AUC), Amb. Minata Samate Cessouma, met with Hon. Begoto Miarom, Chairperson of the African Union Advisory Board on Corruption (AU-ABC) on the sideline of the 30th Summit of the Assembly to discuss the theme of the year, 2018.
While welcoming Hon. Begoto Miarom to the African Union Headquarters, the Commissioner for Political Affairs assured the latter that her office will continue to remain open for continued engagement on issues relating to the mandate of the Board and also to the theme of the year 2018: “Winning the Fight Against Corruption: A Sustainable Path to Africa’s Transformation”, which would be launched during the Summit.
The Commissioner reiterated that her Department would continue very closely with the AU Board on Corruption to provide the necessary support for implementation of the theme of the year 2018 in the fight against corruption within the continent.
``We are always available to provide the needed support, and we must work together as a team to ensure a successful outcome of the joint efforts in fighting corruption in Africa”, the Commissioner emphasized.
Commissioner Samate Cessouma also briefed the Chairperson of the Board on Corruption on the state of preparedness for the launching of the theme of the year, 2018, which has been declared by the AU Policy Organs as Anti-Corruption Year;
Hon. Begoto Miarom on his part, expressed gratitude to the Commissioner for her support in the preparation of the launching of the theme.
He said, the Board would continue to collaborate with the Department of Political Affairs of the AU in all activities lined up for the year 2018 with the view to ensuring a successful result for the benefit of improving le living conditions of the African citizens.
Both the Commissioner and the Chairperson of the Board on Corruption reiterated their commitment to continue to work closely with the Champion of the AU theme of the year, H.E. Mr. Muhammadu Burahi, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the implementation of the fight against corruption in Africa.
