Agenda 2063 is the blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into the global powerhouse of the future. It is the strategic framework for delivering on Africa’s goal for inclusive and sustainable development and is a concrete manifestation of the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.
H.E. Mr. Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda, was appointed to lead the AU institutional reforms process. He appointed a pan-African committee of experts to review and submit proposals for a system of governance for the AU that would ensure the organisation was better placed to address the challenges facing the continent with the aim of implementing programmes that have the highest impact on Africa’s growth and development so as to deliver on the vision of Agenda 2063.

Open Session: The 23rd Ordinary General Assembly of OAFLAD will officially open on 08 July 2019 in Niamey, Niger. A new OAFLAD Presdient (2019-2021) which would have been elected in a closed session the day before, will be officially introduced at the event. The new President is expected to address the General Assembly. H.E. Mme Aïssata Issoufou Mahamadou, First Lady of the Republic of Niger wll welcome participants to the General Assembly. Mrs. Amira ElFadil Mohamed, Commissioner for Social Affairs of the African Union Commission will also present remarks.
The Assembly will have two dialogues under the themes: “OAFLAD Strategic vision 2019-2023; honoring the past, challenging the present and creating the future for OAFLAD” and “OAFLA to OAFLAD: Value of Creating new partnerships”. Following, an official recognition of Member States who have held the OAFLAD Presidency and Founding First Ladies will be held.
