The press conference will be addressed by H.E. Amb. Bankole Adeoye, African Union Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security (PAPS)

Why:The African Union (AU) Institutional Reforms process led to a merger of the former Political

Affairs Department (DPA) and the former Peace and Security Department (PSD), which took

effect in March 2021 with the election of H.E. Ambassador Bankole Adeoye, as the first ever

African Union Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security. On assuming office,

Commissioner Bankole held a first virtual press conference to share his vision for “good

governance, peace dividends”, in Africa, and promised to be engaging with the media on a

regular basis. Almost six months into office, H.E. Commissioner Bankole will be honouring his

promise to give an overview on the African Union’s contributions to inclusive governance, stability

and security on the continent, to Africans, global citizens of African descent, partners and friends

of Africa.
