Why: In fighting hunger and malnutrition in Africa, NEPAD Agency in collaboration with IFPRI, ReSAKSS, Concern World and Welthungerhilfe, will launch the Global Hunger Index: Africa Report on the 2nd July, 2017.

Expected outcome: The launch aims to secure buy-in and commitment among policy makers and other stakeholders on the Zero Hunger campaign by promoting the generation and application of GHI data This will improve the design, strengthen the implementation and foster investments in food security and nutrition on the continent in line with the continental target of Malabo Declaration by 2025 in Africa

Background:
The NEPAD Agency, the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), the Regional Strategic Analysis and Knowledge Support Systems (ReSAKSS), Concern Worldwide and Welthungerhilfe, produced the 2016 Global Hunger Index - Africa Edition to track and report hunger levels in Africa. The Index builds on previous related efforts, and is calculated based on four indicators, namely undernourishment, child wasting, child stunting and child mortality. IFPRI has calculated the Global Hunger Index, a multidimensional measure of global hunger for the past eleven years.
