The PATTEC Coordination Office has provided a technical assistance mission to support PATTEC Zambia team based at the Tsetse and Trypanosomiasis Control Unit (TTCU)’s headquarters (Lusaka) from 1 – 5 May 2017.

The on-job in-house training focused on access, handling, and analysis of satellite data that is relevant/beneficial to Tsetse and Trypanosomiasis control. Open source application QGIS with various image and spatial analysis packages was used during the mission.

Dr. Cornelius Mweempwa (Principal Tsetse Control Biologist), Milner Mukumbwali (Senior Tsetse Control Technician responsible for data management and mapping) and Kalinga Chilongo (Chief Tsetse control Biologist) participated in the sessions. Mr Girma Urgeacha, PATTEC GIS/Database specialist has undertaken the mission.
