Objective: The objective of the Meeting is to review how the approach

on the promotion of constitutionalism and rule of law is organised in

contemporary constitutions in Africa

Participants: Representatives of Regional Parliaments, PAP, African Union

Commission, Experts in Constitutionalism and Rule of Law

among others

Background:

Experts review on the study of State of Constitutionalism in Africa scheduled for the 28 of November 2015, in Johannesburg South Africa brings together experts in constitutionalism to exchange ideas on constitutionalism and what conceptions of it is becoming rooted in governmental practice on the continent following the wave of constitutional changes after 1990. Various core topics such as constitutional change, implementation legislation, constitutional politics and constitutional case law will be reviewed in order to understand how contemporary constitutions in Africa directly approach the limitation of governmental power.
