Harare, 6 July 2018: The African Union Commission (AUC) has deployed a 14-member long-term election observation mission to the Republic of Zimbabwe’s presidential, legislative and local council elections scheduled for 30 July 2018. The Mission was deployed following an invitation by the Government and the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission.

Addis Ababa, 22 February 2018: The Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union, Moussa Faki Mahamat, undertook a visit to Harare, Zimbabwe, from 18 to 20 February 2018. He was accompanied by the Commissioner for Political Affairs, Minata Cessouma Samate, and other senior officials of the Commission.

African Union Commission (AUC) through the Africa Internet Exchange System Project organized a workshop in collaboration with Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) and Postal & Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) to validate the SADC Regional cross-border Interconnection policy framework. The workshop was facilitated by Nathan Associates who contracted from AUC to develop SADC Regional Interconnection policy framework. Representatives from Member States of SADC were participated in the workshop.

President Mugabe supports the African Union Foundation resource mobilization initiative through a donation 300 cattle for auction

Gweru, Zimbabwe, May 16, 2017 – The African Union Foundation (AUF), the institution charged with promoting domestic resource mobilisation for African development has received a donation of 300 head of cattle from H.E. President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe.

The donation was pledged by President Mugabe during his tenure as the AU Chairperson during the 25th AU Summit, held in Johannesburg, South Africa and proceeds from the auction will be used to raise funds to support the initiatives of the AUF.

Dinner to be hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Zimbabwe for Hon Dr Walter Mzembi (MP), the African Union endorsed candidate for the post of United Nations World Tourism Organisation Secretary General.
