Lusaka, Zambia, February 28, 2018: The African Union Commission is holding the Regional Workshop on Accelerated Domestication of the AU Malabo Declaration by Member States and Regional Economic Communities. The AUC through the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP), has been supporting countries to implement the decisions of the AU 2014 Malabo Declaration on Africa Accelerated Agricultural Growth and Transformation (3AGT), by domesticating them into country specific National Agriculture Investment plans.

The Department of Trade and Industry of the African Union Commissionis organizing the 1st African Union Symposium on Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and Industrial Development from 7 to 10 November 2017. The objective of the forum is to provide a platform for policy makers, practitioners, financial institutions, investors and academia to exchange views and experiences on how SEZs can be utilized as vehicles for industrialization in African countries. Particular emphasis will be placed on environmental-friendly manufacturing SEZs promotion.

Lusaka, 21 July 2017- Southern African countries met on Thursday and Friday to operationalize the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention’s (Africa CDC) Regional Collaborating Centres (RCC) in Lusaka, Zambia to improve surveillance, emergency response and prevention of infectious and non-communicable diseases. The Africa CDC is working to harness the public health assets that already exist in the region including universities, national public health institutes, private laboratories, centres of excellence, non-governmental organisations and veterinary networks.

African Union organises capacity development seminar for women sport administrators

Lusaka, Zambia, 16 June 2017–The African Union Commission in collaboration with the Government of Zambia organised a two day seminar for women leaders in sport administration. The meeting deliberated on the new African sport architecture and the AU Strategic Framework for Sustainable Development of Sport in Africa. The meeting sought to strengthen skills in new sport and careers management techniques.
