Agenda 2063 is the blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into the global powerhouse of the future. It is the strategic framework for delivering on Africa’s goal for inclusive and sustainable development and is a concrete manifestation of the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.
H.E. Mr. Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda, was appointed to lead the AU institutional reforms process. He appointed a pan-African committee of experts to review and submit proposals for a system of governance for the AU that would ensure the organisation was better placed to address the challenges facing the continent with the aim of implementing programmes that have the highest impact on Africa’s growth and development so as to deliver on the vision of Agenda 2063.

ONLINE ACCREDITATION FOR JOURNALISTS NOW AVAILABLE
The Directorate of Information and Communication (DIC) of the African Union Commission (AUC) hereby announces that the online media accreditation process for coverage of the 11th Extraordinary Session of the African Union, scheduled to take place from 5th to 18th November 2018, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, has been launched on the AU website: www.au.int.
Journalists interested in covering the upcoming AU Extraordinary Summit should register through the following link: https://au.int/en/summit/extraordinary/11/accreditation
The accreditation deadline for the 11th Extraordinary Session of the Assembly is November 12, 2018.
Meanwhile representatives of the media are kindly informed that the 11th Extraordinary Session of the African Union is scheduled to take place as follows:
5th – 6th November 2018: Meeting of the Permanent Representatives’ Committee
14th – 15th November 2018: 20th Extraordinary Session of the Executive Council
17th – 18th November 2018: 11th Extraordinary Session of the Assembly of the Heads of State and Government of the African Union
Among other issues, the summit is expected to discuss: Update on the AU Institutional Reform process including reform of the AU Commission, mandate of the AU Development Agency (AUDA) and financing the African Union.
Journalists are invited to cover all the public sessions open to the media.
A detailed program of the statutory meetings during the 11th extraordinary session will be made available soon on the AU website www.au.int.
