WHEN: Monday, 25 July 2022, starting from 09:30AM EAT.

WHERE: The Launch and Capacity building workshop will be held at Hyatt Regency Hotel.

WHY: The JLMP Action project kicked off in June 2021 to contribute to the JLMP objective of strengthening effective governance, and regulation of labour migration and mobility, for enhanced sustainable development, inclusive economic growth, and regional integration of the African Continent. National structures will also be supported to develop mechanisms for timely collection, analysis, and dissemination of gender-disaggregated data to inform gender-responsive labour migration policy development and implementation. The launch event will be preceded by a Capacity building workshop for labour migration actors on labour migration governance and administration.

The objectives of the national launch are as follows:

  1. To present the JLMP and JLMP-Action to partners for buy-in and ownership, for successful project implementation
  2. To garner greater understanding of Ethiopia’s efforts to promote labour migration governance and seek to align project interventions with Ethiopia’s policies, strategies, and programmes on labour migration governance.
  3. To strengthen the understanding of national actors on key concepts related to migration, labour, and employment, as well as recent developments and perspectives related to labour migration at national, regional, and continental level.
  4. To discuss the inception report and the implementation roadmap for the development of a national labour migration policy and plan of action for Ethiopia.
