Addis Ababa, Ethiopia: 11th May 2018: The African Union Commissioner for Rural, Economy and Agriculture, Mrs. Josefa Leonel Sacko held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Sahbi Khalfallah, permanent representative of the Republic of Tunisia to the African Union to discuss on the upcoming 7th Africa Regional Platform and 6th High-level meeting on Disaster Risk Reduction to be held in Tunis from 9th to 13th October 2018.

“This particular session of the Africa Regional Platform and High-Level DRR meeting will take place back to back with Arab Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction, also to be hosted by Tunisia,” said the commissioner.

The African Union Commission is co-organizing the event with the government of Tunisia, League of Arab States (LAS) and United Nation Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR). “The Republic of Tunisia is ready and willing to collaborate with all the stakeholders for effective organization of both the African and Arab Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction,” expressed H. E. Ambassador Khalfallah.

Both leaders committed to continuous cooperation and coordination for the successful organization of the two major events and urged the regional organizing committee comprising of Tunisia, African Union Commission (AUC), League of Arab States (LAS), and United Nation Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) to provide regular updates to the Commission and Tunisian Embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
