Background

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is witnessing the second largest world Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) outbreak, which started about one year ago. As of today, the current EVD has killed over 1,700 individuals and continues to increase. Moreover, after a yearlong fight against EVD in an armed conflict zones in Eastern DRC, the outbreak spilled over into a high densely populated city of Goma and neighbouring Uganda; and poses a very high risk to the region of more than 280 million inhabitants.

AU-PATTEC organized a regional training workshop for French speaking central Africa countries on application of open source GIS in Tsetse and Trypanosomiasis projects in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia at the AU HQs, from 24- 28 June 2019. Addis-Abeba, Ethiopie, 12 août 2019: La Commission de l'Union africaine (CUA) et le Bureau des Nations Unies auprès de l'Union africaine (UNOAU) appellent à la nomination de femmes africaines qui ont exceptionnellement avancé le programme femmes, paix et sécurité. Les femmes figureront dans un prochain livre commémoratif qui devrait être lancé en 2020. Cette initiative s'inscrit dans le cadre de la commémoration du 20e anniversaire de la résolution 1325 du Conseil de sécurité des Nations Unies sur les femmes, la paix et la sécurité.
