Addis Ababa, October 24, 2017: The United States Mission to the African Union and the African Union are proud to present their first ever Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) Week at the African Union Commission from 25 - 27 October 2017.

CVE Week is a joint initiative of the United States Mission to the African Union Commission, in collaboration with the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Counterterrorism, USAID Africa Bureau.

This week has been designed to bring together professionals from across the world – including representatives from the Regional Economic Communities – to discuss ways in which the United States and the African Union can collectively work together to prevent and counter the rise of violent extremism in Africa. The U.S. Mission to the African Union and the AU hope to make this an annual event.

Journalists are invited to cover opening remarks in Conference Hall Four at 9:00 am, at the AU Commission.
