Kigali, Rwanda, 10 July 2016: The African Union Commission (AUC) and the African Diaspora Forum signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 10 July at the margins of the 27th AU Summit at the Kigali Convention Centre.

The objective of the MOU is to strengthen co-operation between the Parties to facilitate mutual cooperation and implementation of the agenda of the African Union (AU) on the Diaspora.
The Parties seek to work together towards the realization of the AU Diaspora declaration with emphasis on women, youth and elders, through concrete initiatives and programs. In so doing, the two parties may make arrangements for the sharing of knowledge and marshalling of resources to realize the stated objectives.

Present during the signing ceremony, was Ms. Jennifer Chiriga, Chief of Staff of the AUC, Mr. Ahmed El-Basheer A. El-Madani the Ag. Director, Citizens and Diaspora Directorate (CIDO), AUC and H.E. Ambassador Dr. Erieka Bennett, Founder and Head of Mission of the Accra-based African Diaspora Forum.
