AU launches faster, friendlier Merit Based Recruitment System to recruit the best African talent
The African Union launched its new look Careers website https://careers.au.int/ to help identify and recruit the best African talent that will contribute towards delivering Africa’s Agenda 2063.
The website features the new Merit Based Recruitment System (MBRS) via SAP SuccessFactors® which will allow applicants to have a smoother, faster and friendlier experience.
World Malaria Day: Africa highlights achievements, challenges and planned mitigation measures
World Malaria Day is celebrated every year on 25th April. On this day, the African Union Commission (AUC) joined the rest of the world to celebrate the seven million lives saved, and over one billion malaria cases averted through life-saving mosquito nets, among other interventions.
11th cohort of the AU Youth Volunteer Programme trains 238 young professionals
The African Union Commission’s Youth Division within the Women, Gender and Youth Directorate (WGYD) held the first ever virtual training i.e. of its 11th cohort. The training of 238 young professionals from all 55 Member States ran from 22nd March to 23rd April.

The 8th of March, signified the start of what is commonly referred as the “Women’s Month” as the world commemorated International Women's Day. Kenya’s court ruling against FGM demonstrates commitment by member states to shun practices that violate international human rights
On the 17th March 2021, the High Court of the Republic of Kenya dismissed a case in which a medical doctor had challenged the prohibition of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), arguing that it limited women’s choice and right to uphold their culture. The Court ruled that the practice of FGM violates a woman’s right to health, human dignity and in instances when it results in death, the right to life, adding that the practice also undermines international human rights standards.
COVID19: Virtual Conference held on Africa Vaccine Manufacturing for Health Security
One of the most important lessons Africa has learnt during the COVID-19 pandemic is the need to invest in and build its own health systems particularly manufacturing of vaccines and diagnostics. The rise of global protectionism and vaccine nationalism has reiterated the African resolve to seek African solutions for African problems. This has led to increased support from African governments, African and global public health institutions and the private sector, to expand African manufacturing.
