Agenda 2063 is the blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into the global powerhouse of the future. It is the strategic framework for delivering on Africa’s goal for inclusive and sustainable development and is a concrete manifestation of the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.
H.E. Mr. Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda, was appointed to lead the AU institutional reforms process. He appointed a pan-African committee of experts to review and submit proposals for a system of governance for the AU that would ensure the organisation was better placed to address the challenges facing the continent with the aim of implementing programmes that have the highest impact on Africa’s growth and development so as to deliver on the vision of Agenda 2063.

Mr Erastus Mwencha, Deputy Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission will hold on Thursday, 2 May 2013 a press briefing on the upcoming celebration of the Golden Jubilee of the Organization of the African Unity (OAU) at 16h30 at the Kenyatta International Conference Center of Nairobi, Kenya.
As the Chairperson of the Organizing Committee of the Golden Jubilee, Mr Mwencha will brief the media on the activities scheduled for the celebration of Africa Day on 25th May 2013, the expected guests and the yearlong activities to be undertaken by the AU Commission as well as its Member States.
Mr Mwencha’s press briefing will be held at the margins of the celebration of the 2013 edition of the World Press Freedom Day, on 3rd May 2013, where he has been invited to speak on the subject “Media and Communication Integration in Africa. The Case for East African Community”.
