Lengthy document structured around three case studies from Ethiopia, Namibia and Uganda. Comprehensive analysis of each including exploration of the political, security and social contexts, programme design and resourcing, institutional arrangements and assessment of impact. Importantly study one of the few that appears to have systematically attempted to assess the economic impact of DDR on both the macro economy and ex-combatants themselves. Executive summary (pages 22-43) contains a list of key lessons learned for future programming. Important to note that all cases presented took place within the context of a clear end to conflict where a relatively strong national Government was able to take forward policies and programmes (Type A: Political and Security Context)
