Kigali, Rwanda, 2nd September 2018: Voting has begun in Rwanda's parliamentary elections, on Sunday, 2nd September 2018, where voters will elect legislators for the 80-seat Chamber of Deputies, 24 of which are reserved for women, two for youth candidates and one for the people with disabilities (PWDs), for a five year term.

AUEOM Orientation and Briefing Programme Commences in Rwanda
Kigali, Rwanda, 30th September 2018 – Head of the African Union Election Observation Mission (AUEOM), H.E Mrs. Aichatou Mindaoudou Souleymane, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Niger arrived in Kigali on 29th September 2018 to lead the AUEOM to Rwanda’s 2018 Parliamentary Elections.
Being present in Kigali since 26th of August, the AUEOM will observe and assess the
2-4 September 2018 Parliamentary Election with a view to contributing to the Peacefulness, transparency and integrity of these elections.

Kigali, Rwanda, 31st August 2018: The African Union Election Observation Mission (AUEOM) to the Parliamentary Elections in the Republic of Rwanda visited the Genocide Memorial Centre in Kigali, on Thursday 30th August 2018, to pay their respect to the victims of the 1994 Genocide.
The Memorial Center is the final resting place for more than 250,000 victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. It honors the memory of the more than one million Rwandans killed in 1994 through education and peace-building.

Following the invitation by the Government of the Republic of Rwanda and the National Electoral Commission, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission H.E Moussa Faki Mahamat has deployed an African Union Election Observation Mission (AUEOM) to the Parliamentary Elections scheduled to place from 2nd - 4th September 2018.
