The African Union announces the arrival of the Head of the African Union Election Observation Mission in Liberia
Monrovia, 8 October 2017 – H.E Mr. Erastus J.O. Mwencha, former Deputy Chairperson of the African Union has arrived in Liberia as Head of the African Union Election Observation Mission (AUEOM). A champion of regional integration, H.E Mr. Mwencha held the position of Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission for eight years (2008 – 2016). Mr. Mwencha was received upon his arrival by Honorable Axel Marcel Addy the Minister of Commerce and Industry.

Addis Ababa, 29 September 2017: At the invitation of the Government and National Electoral Commission of Liberia, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), His Excellency Moussa Faki Mahamat, has approved the deployment of a Short-Term Election Observation Mission to Liberia to observe the country’s presidential and legislative elections scheduled for 10 October 2017.

Addis Ababa, 31 August 2017: Following an invitation from the Government and National Electoral Commission of the Republic of Liberia, and in line with the mandate of the African Union Commission (AUC) to promote democracy and democratic elections in Africa, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), His Excellency Moussa Faki Mahamat, has approved the deployment of a Long-Term African Union Election Observation Mission to Liberia’s Presidential and Legislative Elections scheduled for 10 October 2017.

H.E. George S.W. Patten, Sr., is Liberia’s new Ambassador of Liberia to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the AU and UNECA, while H.E. Mr.
