Agenda 2063 is the blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into the global powerhouse of the future. It is the strategic framework for delivering on Africa’s goal for inclusive and sustainable development and is a concrete manifestation of the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.
H.E. Mr. Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda, was appointed to lead the AU institutional reforms process. He appointed a pan-African committee of experts to review and submit proposals for a system of governance for the AU that would ensure the organisation was better placed to address the challenges facing the continent with the aim of implementing programmes that have the highest impact on Africa’s growth and development so as to deliver on the vision of Agenda 2063.

The Republic of Togo and the Republic of Mauritius became the twenty-third (23rd) and the twenty-fourth (24th) African Union (AU) member states to sign the Treaty for the establishment of the African Medicines Agency (AMA) on 20 and 21 September 2021
The Republic of Zimbabwe becomes the eleventh (12th) Member State to deposit the instrument of ratification of the African Medicines Agency (AMA).
Outbreak Update: Since the last brief (2 September 2021), 4,286,128 new confirmed[1] coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases, including 67,875 new deaths, have been reported globally. To date, a global total of 220,626,513 COVID-19 cases and 4,566,532 related deaths (case fatality ratio (CFR): 2.1%) have been reported from 225 countries and territories to the World Health Organization (WHO).
